Indeed we are blessed with numerous things from technology, creating various ways of reducing stress on people has been the primary goal.
When you compare phones of 2015 and the ones of 2018 to 2020 you'll definitely discover that there is a huge gap between  them; from the hardware design, software features and power . Now,the first thing to consider are what  customers want and not really the level of technology packed in the device.  From a personal view, I think it's the most important aspect  to consider.
 
Companies do alot of research not only on how to improve the quality of their products but also on the users preferences, knowing what people desire to have or see in each unit keeps them going on their manufacturing process.
Smartphones with the highest specifications may not really be the most useful amongst others.

Features to consider before buying a smartphone in 2020

battery life:   if you watch some of the commercials about new products; battery life and capacity is one of core specs they emphasize on , they go as far as making it bold so anyone can see it easily because everyone need something to work with for a longer period of  before running of out of power.

Price: i take this to be the most important part when making some decisions concerning such purchases. With that said, it's not always advisable to spend  a lot of money on buying just one smartphone.personal opinion though. They're cheaper ones that can handle some tasks better and efficiently without so much hassle.

screen size:  this may look somehow out of line but it's very important too, but it all depends on the individual really wants. While most users like small screen which i think has it's own advantages and disadvantages; in most cases larger screens kind of makes smartphone operation better . I recommend larger screen displays.

Processor and RAM:  its best to look at out for devices with powerful processors to avoid being frustrated.using any electronic device especially phones in a colder environment has a way of boosting it's processing power and other close related features.
Ram size is very essential, it's very close to processors. Running heavy applications and games needs this two key features the most.


Charging time/ speed: charging rate is also dependent on some factors external from the phones capabilities such as the charger, current state of the smartphone and some other  forces associated with electricity. Although some companies have enhanced the charging speed of their products and are still on the path of making more improvements.
Be sensitive to these important little sides of electronics.

Built quality: you wouldn't like spending you cash on anything that can break easily or get scratched any how. They are meant to be construed with nice durable material for it to withstand some environmental hazards of hash conditions capable of causing damage.
